I'll remove the Alt + R shortcut for restore defaults.
The two required actions (restore defaults + OK/Apply) should be enough to prevent most accidental resets.
It is unfortunate that the reset button is next to the restore defaults button in the Advanced page.
I'll look into a redesign here..
Everything does keep a backup of your settings.
To restore your settings from the last backup:
After you use about:config, Everything will watch your Everything.ini for external changes.
Did you see a "Reload configuration file?" message?

- Check Import settings and click Next.
- Click Browse....
- type in the following address and press ENTER:
%APPDATA%\Everything - Select your Everything.backup.ini and click Open.
- Click Import.
- Click Finish.
